Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience providing assistance, direction or support to improve, protect, and preserve the rights of workers and/or immigrants, or assisting clients in understanding and participating in public or private programs. The experience must include involvement in public education, communications, or community outreach activities.Substitution: a master’s degree or law degree may substitute for one year of experience for all levels.This is a non-competitive position. Duties Description As an Immigrant Workers Specialist 2 in DOCE you would serve as a liaison for the Department of Labor for employers, workers (with a focus on minimum wage, immigrant, or vulnerable populations) and advocacy groups. The incumbent will:• Responds to concerns raised by community organizations working directly with potential labor trafficking victims, minimum wage workers, immigrant and or vulnerable populations.• Coordinates with Department programs investigating Labor Law as needed.• Analyzes reports, census data, and other statistical data regarding immigrant population trends, issues, and concerns.• In collaboration with Office of Special Investigations, may work on potential criminal cases with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.• Responds to constituent calls and correspondence and prepares letters and reports regarding immigration and human trafficking issues.• Oversees and conducts community outreach statewide.• Collaborates with government agencies and other stakeholders to inform on labor laws, regulations, worker protections and employer requirements in New York State. • Develops and implements information awareness campaigns targeted at existing and emerging minimum wage, immigrant and/or other vulnerable worker populations.• Conducts screening of potential labor trafficking victims.• Conducts interviews of potential labor trafficking victims as part of the U/T Visa Certification process.• Conducts intake of Statement of Interest requests, screens, and drafts Statement of Interest letters for submission to DHS.• Reviews and stays informed of any changes to regulations and guidance issued by U.S. DOL and other federal authorities or agencies.• Participates in meetings and community events to give and obtain information relating to vulnerable workers’ issues and concerns.• Supervises and trains Immigrant Workers Specialists 1.Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language, criminal enforcement background, immigration screening background, U and/or T Visa process experience, Juris Doctor degree Preferred Qualifications: • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.• Spanish language• Criminal enforcement background• Immigration screening background• U and/or T Visa process experience• Juris Doctor degree

Additional Comments As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.Additional location pay is available for the following counties: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, NYC-Manhattan, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam.Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above.
