Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$65,600.00 - $108,200.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Seeking Paralegal to assist staff attorneys in active, exciting and demanding environment performing diverse legal support functions. Assist staff of 10 attorneys with legal research; respond to subpoenas; monitor legislation; draft, review and edit correspondence and legal documents; and generally assist with filing, organizational and administrative tasks.

What Will You Do?

  • Respond to subpoenas, including document retrieval, review for privileged materials, communications with outside counsel, production and filing.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of 50 state surveys particularly with respect to regulatory and compliance issues.

  • Review new and pending legislation for applicability to organization and advise management as appropriate.

  • Assist in supporting Travelers OFAC and economic trade sanction and global non-admitted insurance compliance programs, including clearing potential OFAC hits and performing compliance testing.

  • Review and organize company records.

  • Review marketing materials for compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate and track responses to Insurance Department and consumer complaints.

  • Utilize on-line systems (Internet and Westlaw) for researching legal issues.

  • Obtain copies of court cases, statutes, law review articles and other legal references as requested by staff attorneys.

  • Assist in drafting, proofreading and formatting various agreements and other documents (must be proficient in Word).

  • Assist with data/document entry into electronic databases and spreadsheets (should have working knowledge of Excel).

  • Assist in responding to or properly routing customer, agent and other external inquiries and correspondence.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Superior interpersonal skills to conduct interviews and investigations and communicate with other attorneys, business personnel and regulators/court personnel.

  • Superior grammar and writing skills.

  • Knowledge of insurance/surety a plus.

  • Resourceful research and analytical skills.

  • Bilingual skills are helpful.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word.

  • Proficient in Westlaw and Lexus Nexus online research.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively.

  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Paralegal Certificate from An ABA-Certified program preferred.

What is a Must Have?

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a paralegal or related work experience; or i) a Associate/Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certification from an ABA-Certified program and ii) one year of paralegal or related work experience.
