Weyerhaeuser's (Engineered Lumber Products) Timberstrand® manufacturing Plant, located on beautiful Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario, is currently seeking permanent full-time Certified Mechanical Technician. Reporting to the Maintenance Team Lead the Certified Mechanical Technician will be responsible for:

  • Work safely in the production of TimberStrand® at all times.
  • Support and enhance existing predictive maintenance processes.
  • Follow and execute new technological approaches to NDE and condition monitoring.
  • Organize and maintain comprehensive predictive maintenance records, including oil analysis, alignment and balancing, and vibration analysis.
  • Achieve full conformity with Weyerhaeuser Standard Maintenance Practices (SMP’s)
  • Address equipment mechanical issues through troubleshooting.
  • Perform or coordinate predictive maintenance inspections and machine balancing.
  • Support the development and upkeep of training programs for predictive maintenance practices.
  • Participate in failure analysis and Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Support the upkeep and calibrations of all related predictive maintenance equipment
  • Execute the implementation of new technology for data acquisition and analysis.
  • Initiate and plan maintenance work orders and PM’s for predictive maintenance work.
  • Use SAP for Materials and Work Order Management.
  • Coordinate related contractor activities as required.
  • Housekeeping - Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
  • Continue to support plant maintenance activities on tools for down days, outages & breakdown events

  • Mechanical Trades Qualification in an applicable discipline (must be certified in a mechanical trade).

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Strong written and oral communications skills and attention to detail.
  • Analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency is essential, SAP experience would be an asset.
  • Be willing to acquire all necessary certifications and training to ensure competency.
  • Ability and willingness to work at heights using aerial platforms as necessary.
  • Basic mathematical knowledge (trigonometry, geometry, algebra)
  • Level 1(or above) vibration analysis and/or other NDT certifications would be considered an asset.

This position is a balance of field, administrative and supporting program development. This position will be required to be in the mill trade vacation relief pool.
