YRC Freight Talent Acquisition Coordinator in Overland Park, Kansas

JOB SUMMARY

The Talent Acquisition Coordinator is responsible for recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes. Collaborates with HR Regional Recruiters and Hiring Managers, to identify business needs/demand and desired qualifications of potential candidates. Manages high volume recruitment process. Screens candidates, conducts initial phone interviews and selects candidates to continue in the interview process. Responsible for direct hires. Processes, reviews and clears background checks, drug screening and ensures documentation is in accordance with all legal guidelines. Assesses company requirements, union practices, OFCCP, federal, state and local laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage the recruitment process through all of the progressive stages, including candidate review, initial phone screen/interview, coordination with hiring manager, scheduling interviews, coordinating onboarding and orientation and any other activities required to effectively hire and onboard candidates.

  2. Administer requisition system management for job openings and candidate flow according to established guidelines. This includes the opening and posting new positions, dispositioning candidates and closing filled positions.

  3. Conduct intake discussions with Hiring Managers and Regional Recruiters and other team members in order to determine screening strategies for selecting top candidates for progress to the interview stage.

  4. Determine candidate selection for continuation in the process through initial phone interviews. Ensure candidates are selected and moved through the process according to job-relevant criteria.

  5. Responsible for hiring decisions and job offers for Drivers and Dock workers.

  6. Administer drug and background screening for selected candidates according to company requirements. Interpret results of MVR’s, background reports and drug screens within DOT and company policy.

  7. Partner with Regional Recruiters, HR Managers and hiring managers to create sourcing strategies for critical, hard to fill positions.

  8. Process documents for all new hires and organize aspects of the welcome procedures for orientation.

  9. Advise candidates on terminal operations and the functionality of union expectations.

  10. Compose and maintain accurate electronic files and information for tracking and compliance Manages confidential documents pertaining to candidate details and union procedures.

  11. Conduct needs assessment to forecast current and future demands to business needs.

  12. Partner with Regional Recruiters to help increase candidate pool and provide a positive applicant experience.

  13. Remain current and effectively adhere to OFCCP and HR policies for federal, state and local levels.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor degree in HR or related area. An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.

  2. One (1) year experience in sourcing, recruiting, and hiring.

  3. Experience with Microsoft Office products.

  4. Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding recruiting.

  5. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  6. Some travel may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* *

  1. Transportation, manufacturing or logistical/distribution industry experience.

  2. Applicant Tracking System experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs. of supplies and materials is required.
