As a mechanical designer at Wood, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of projects for our Minerals and Metals clients. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet client requirements while adhering to industry standards and best practices. This position offers an opportunity to showcase your technical expertise, leadership skills, and industry knowledge in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Responsibilities:

Utilize Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed 2D and 3D designs of material handling and mineral processing facilities. Create design documentation including engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and bills of materials. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize designs, reduce costs, and incorporate accessibility to production systems for improved operability and maintainability. Update designs based on input received during review. Ensure that all drawings and designs are up to date and properly archived. Occasionally visit mining and process sites to gather information, understand constraints, validate assumptions, and review designs with customers. Provide support during project fabrication, installation and or construction activities to address any design-related issue that might arise. Remain up to date on latest technologies and design methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum two-year technical diploma and 10+ years of design experience, including 5 years working with an engineering firm on minerals and metals projects. Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, AVEVA, etc.), and GIS software. Design experience in processes related to Minerals and Metals such as Material Handling, Crushing, Grinding, Particle Separation and or Flotation Systems. Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Understanding of industry-specific regulations, codes, and standards. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Job Requirements:

Authorization to lawfully work in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.
