Position Announcement

The Assistant Athletic Director of Operations and Facilities works under the Executive Director of Athletics and plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations and logistical aspects of the Athletics Department, with specific focus on facilities management, event coordination and select day-to-day administrative functions. The position collaborates and works closely with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of athletic programs and events. Responsibilities

Facilities Management:

  • Oversees the maintenance, scheduling, and usage of all athletics facilities, including scoreboards, ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and meet the needs of various sports programs.

  • Oversees setup and takedown of equipment for all athletics events.

  • Oversees the procurement, distribution, installation, and maintenance of athletic venue equipment and supplies.

  • Serves as liaison with Facilities Management, Campus Scheduling, and Risk Management

  • Creates work orders for needed maintenance or repairs in athletic facilities.

  • Coordinates with Building Management on the moving or repair of large items prior to events.

  • Meets with athletics facilities Landscape Management, Custodial, and Building Maintenance personnel monthly to discuss upcoming scheduled events and coverage needs.

    Event Coordination:

  • Coordinates the logistics of game day events, including staffing, security, ticketing, concessions, parking, and fan experience.

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all student-athletes, coaches, fans, and guests.

  • Coordinates with NCAA and conference stakeholders to oversee the proper hosting of game officials.

Administrative Functions:

  • Works closely with the Executive Director of Athletics to oversee all athletics’ capital projects.

  • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, and compliance of all part-time staff, including managing the part-time staff budget.

  • Contributes to the development and execution of the department’s strategic plan and goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.

  • At least three (3) years’ experience managing and coordinating intercollegiate athletic events; experience working with intercollegiate athletic camps preferred.

  • Experience working with video boards preferred.

  • Ability to work variable hours, such as evenings and weekends, depending on sports schedule, is required, as well as the ability to work outdoors, in extreme temperatures (hot or cold, more than one hour per day).

  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $51,000-$56,500, depending on qualifications and experience.
