Deloitte Data Scientist with TS/SCI security clearance in Washington, District Of Columbia

Work you'll do

As a Data Scientist, you will be involved in full spectrum analytic technical support to mission operations and the intelligence lifecycle:

  • Requirements collection and refinement; translating user requirements into technical requirements, environment configuration, exploratory data analysis, model development, selection, and evaluation.

  • Identifying insights from analytic products and then communicating those results to a nontechnical audience. To that end, you will work with cross-functional teams to identify relevant and permissible data sources, access available infrastructure, and develop analytic products tailored to mission user requirements.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical in your ability to collaborate with your technical colleagues and build rapport with the customer.

  • Your analytic products should clearly and succinctly distill trends, illuminate latent patterns, and spotlight insights in an easy-to-consume manner for customers to take action on.

    Tasks :

  • Establish advanced analysis and data visualization methodologies, models, and tools to derive intelligence outcomes and impacts.

  • Design and deliver infographics across a range of media platforms.

  • Identify and process raw data, trends, analysis, and assessments in order to aggregate disparate information, leveraging both analytic and visualization tools.

  • Leverage knowledge of databases and methodologies to determine appropriate sources, determine indicators and relationships, and generate intelligence support packages providing situational awareness and threat analysis to inform threat mitigation in support of the agency's personnel serving domestically and internationally.

  • Provide tailored communications to innovation stakeholders in meetings, demos, and other customer engagements, as well as support analytic innovation, development, and data analytics activities to the agency's customers and stakeholders.

  • Brief customers on assessments and prepare briefings based on finished analysis, including preparing daily briefings for senior policy and operational decision makers.

  • Work will predominately be conducted in the National Capital Region.

The Deloitte professional will provide support for our Federal Government client's Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) group by providing intelligence and information analysis services for Government review and approval by assisting the Government with the development of data analysis-related aviation and surface intelligence threats to the homeland.

Threats include, but are not limited to, threats within transportation infrastructure, providers, and their networks; Threats to key supply chain providers, subsidiaries, manufacturers, distributors, and other partners within the transportation industry; and negligent, criminal, or hostile intelligence activity that may impact the integrity of U.S. companies, persons, or transportation to/from the United States.

Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) is our Federal Government client's element charged with responsibility for the intelligence and vetting function. Accordingly, they receive, assess, and distribute intelligence related to threats to transportation, and operates a 24/7 intelligence Watch Operations mission communicating with national intelligence and law enforcement programs. I&A maintains direct connections with the agency's field operations and security centers of major transportation stakeholders. The agency also collaborates with other Federal Government components and the Intelligence Community (IC) while continuing to support the transportation customer base regarding transportation security intelligence analysis.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

  • TS/SCI security clearance is required.

  • 4+ years of experience in data analytics and data visualization, preferably in the homeland security or IC context.

  • 4+ years of experience with SQL (Structured Query Language), Microsoft Power BI, R Programming, Data Science and Machine Learning, Tableau, Python, and/or Data Visualization: PowerBI.

  • Experience preparing and delivering briefings for senior policy and operations decision makers.

  • Strong strategic communication skills to include presenting quantitative concepts in easy-to-understand formats and actively listening to identify business problems and their causes.

  • Analytics skills to accelerate manual analytic processes, generate analytic models, and enable analysts to exploit agencies' data holdings.

  • Experience with creating data visualization concepts to better represent insights and communicate complex quantitative concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience performing Open-Source Collection (OSINT).

  • Specific knowledge of Title 49 authorities.

  • Knowledge of multiple open-source areas including surface, deep, and dark web.

  • Experience in statistics and machine learning algorithms, as well as coding.

  • Familiarity and experience with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

  • Familiarity and experience with interacting programmatically with IC data stores and analytic services.

LOCATION : Springfield, VA (remote/telework is largely not supported for this role)
